Warriors Shut Out Tornado to Split Series

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the King Tornado in the final game of the series on Sunday in a 9-0 final score. 
 
Southern Wesleyan collected 10 hits in the victory over the Tornado.  Four Warriors recorded two hits during the game, with Ty King Richards posting a double and DJ Ludwick recording a triple.  Three Warriors led the team with two RBIs during the game.  Southern Wesleyan walked six times with Sawyer Price leading the team with two.  Ludwick stole the lone base for the Warriors.
 
Tanner Glass started the series finale on Sunday.  Glass pitched six scoreless innings, striking out four batters while only allowing three hits.  Freshman Ryan Moore closed out the game for Southern Wesleyan.  Striking out four, Moore pitched three scoreless innings to pick up his first career save.

How It Happened
 
Southern Wesleyan scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.  With two out, Ty King Richards doubled to right center.  A triple by DJ Ludwick brought King Richards in to score and put the Warriors on top 1-0.
 
The Warriors extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.  With one out, Dawson Posick walked.  A second walk put Zach O'Malley on first and advanced Posick to second base.  Ty King Richards singled to center field to load up the bases.  With the bases loaded, DJ Ludwick singled to the pitcher to put the Warriors up 2-0.  Josh Galloway followed with a single through the right side and bring two more runs in.  With Galloway on first and Ludwick on third, Tanner Glass singled up the middle to bring Ludwick home.  Parker Pillsbury knocked a single to right center field to allow Galloway to score and put Southern Wesleyan on top 6-0.
 
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors pushed their lead further.  Sawyer Price led off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second as Tyler Rogers was hit by a pitch.  With two on, Dawson Posick reached on a fielder's choice that took Rogers off second base.  However, an error by the second baseman allowed Price to come home to extend the Warriors lead to 7-0.
 
Southern Wesleyan was not done as they attacked again in the bottom of the eighth inning.  DJ Ludwick reached first on an error and then advanced to third on a single by Josh Galloway.  With runners on the corners, Tanner Glass singled up the middle to score Ludwick.  With two on and two out, Tyler Rogers singled to left field to allow Galloway to come home and give the Warriors a 9-0 victory.
 
 
What's Next
 
Southern Wesleyan will next host the University of Mount Olive Trojans on February 26 and 27.  They will then travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on March 5 and 6.  The Warriors will remain on the road on March 12-13 as they travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
