Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Chowan Hawks on Friday afternoon in a 66-64 final score.
The Warriors shot 43.6% from the field and went 85.7% from at the free throw line in the victory over the Hawks.
Hunter Davis led the team with 23 points during the game. Davis was followed by
Demarcus Addie with 14 and
Jalen Lowery with 11 points. Southern Wesleyan recorded 12 assists during the game with three Warriors posting three assists apiece.
Southern Wesleyan had 39 rebounds during the game. Davis and Addie led the team with nine rebounds each. The Warriors had six blocks with Davis leading the team with three. He was followed by
Quinian Rieves with two.
Ta'Jay Dunlap led the team with three of the five steals during the game.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took the early lead against Chowan as
Tranard Ferrell laid the ball up in the paint. The Warriors pushed their lead to 6-2 on back-to-back layups by
Hunter Davis. Chowan put two more points on the board, but a 3-pointer by
Jacob Smith gave Southern Wesleyan a 14-4 point advantage. The Warriors continued to distance themselves from the Hawks, but a 3-pointer by Tahkey Williams kept Chowan with seven.
Jalen Lowery stole the ball away from the Hawks and took it down the court on a fast break before sinking a jump shot to put Southern Wesleyan's lead at 23-13. Despite a last second layup by Chowan's Calvin Ahoume, the Warriors led 28-24 at the half.
Chowan took the first points of the second half on a layup by Jaedon Willis, and then tied the game up at 28-points apiece on a second layup by Willis. With the game tied,
Demarcus Addie sunk a free throw to put the Warriors ahead by one. The Hawks regained the lead, but a three point basket by Lowery allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the game back up. Addie put up a three point basket off a pass from
Ta'Jay Dunlap to put the score at 41-41. The Hawks maintained the pressure, taking the lead multiple times but the Warriors kept the game within one on a layup by Davis. Trailing by four, Dunlap and Davis each laid the ball up to put the Warriors within two. A late free throw by
Arusha Hunter allow the Warriors went on to win the game 66-64.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on February 20 as they welcome the Barton College Bulldogs to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Due West, SC to take the Erskine Flying Fleet on February 22 at 7 p.m . The Warriors will remain on the road on February 23 as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions for the second time this season. Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season on February 25 as they welcome the Erskine College Flying Fleet to Central, SC at 7 p.m.
