How It Happened

The Warriors attacked the court early as Lonesha Lee laid the ball up into the basket.  Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead on back-to-back layups by Brooke Henricks.  Converse countered with a three pointer by Lindsey Hardin and then took the lead on a layup by Keyshuna Fair.  A 3-point shot by Alliee Patillo allowed the Valkyries to take a five point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Halee Morrison kicked off the second quarter with a jump shot.  A layup by Lee allowed the Warriors to come within one point of the Valkryies.  Tristen Berry sunk a three pointer off a pass from Henricks to put Southern Wesleyan on top 17-15.  Converse continued to counter all the Warriors attacks, regaining the lead on a 3-point basket by Hardin and then pushing ahead to lead 29-26 at halftime.

Hardin made a layup for the Valkryies to start the third quarter of play, however the Warriors countered with a jump shot by Sasha Schoenborn to put the Warriors down 28-31 with just over nine minutes left.  Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure with a jump shot by Amy Soumare to put the Warriors on top.  Converse fought back though, taking a five point lead on a jump shot by Fair.

Converse pushed ahead by ten points on a 3-pointer by Hardin off a pass from Patillo.  The Valkyries continued to distance themselves, pushing their lead to 63-40 before Schoenborn sunk a three pointer with just over five minutes left to play in the game.  Despite a jump shot by Morrison, Converse won the game in a 76-50 final score.
