Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the double header against the Mars Hill Lions on Wednesday. The Warriors won the first game in six innings 8-0 before falling 7-5 in game two of the evening.
The Warriors had six hits in the game one victory with
Savannah Huff leading the team with two hits. Huff,
Delaney Byers and
Emma Jo Wolfe all doubled during the game. Huff went on to record four of the eight RBIs during the game. Five Warriors walked during the game with
Emma Collins walking twice.
Addi Johnson led the team with two stolen bases, while
Haley Bertie and Collins followed with one stolen base apiece.
Delanie Laudenbacher pitched all six innings for the Warriors, striking out six while only allowing six hits.
Southern Wesleyan collected eight hits in the game two loss.
Megan New led the team with three hits. She was followed by
Savannah Huff with two. New recorded three of the five RBIs of the game. Six Warriors walked during game two. New doubled three times during the game, and Huff had her second home run of the season.
Addi Johnson collected two of the Warriors three stolen bases.
Emma Collins started game two of the evening, collecting five strikeouts while only walking on.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan took the first runs on the game in the bottom of the third inning. With one out,
Emma Collins walked and then stole second base to put her in scoring position.
Delaney Byers drove a double to left center field to bring Collins home. Byers advanced to third on a ground out by
Addi Johnson. With two outs,
Savannah Huff singled to right field to score Byers.
Ashton Martin walked to put runners at first and second.
Lydia Clanton followed with a single to left field to bring Huff home and give Southern Wesleyan a 3-0 lead.
The Warriors extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Megan New singled to center field, and then
Haley Bertie came in to pinch run for her. Bertie went on to steal second base to get in scoring position.
Emma Jo Wolfe doubled to right field to bring Bertie in to put Southern Wesleyan ahead 4-0.
Emma Collins walked to put two runners on and bring
Delaney Byers up to bat. Byers was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. Mars Hill walked
Addi Johnson, bringing another Warrior in to score. With the bases loaded,
Savannah Huff doubled down the left field line to bring in all the runners and allow the Warriors to win game one 8-0.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan maintained the offensive in game two, striking first in the bottom of the first inning.
Delaney Byers led off with a single to short stop and then advanced to second on a ground out by
Addi Johnson. With Byers at second,
Savannah Huff singled to left field to bring Byers in to score.
Mars Hill countered in the top of the third. Harris doubled to left field to bring Hamlin in, and then a fly out by Nanney allowed Nix to come home to put the Lions on top 2-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Warriors regained the lead. With one out,
Addi Johnson walked and then stole second base.
Savannah Huff followed with a walk to put two runners on. With two on and two out, both Huff and Johnson stole bases to put both of them in scoring position. A walk to
Emma Collins loaded the bases to bring
Megan New up to bat. New drilled a double to left center bringing all three runners in to score and put the Warriors on top 4-2.
The Lions would not go own without a fight, striking again in the top of the fourth inning. With two on, a single by Powell scored one run. Hamlin followed with a triple to put Mars Hill ahead 5-4. They lengthened their lead to 7-5 on a single by Langheim that allowed Nix and Hamlin to score.
Despite a solo home run by
Savannah Huff in the bottom of the fifth inning, Southern Wesleyan fell to Mars Hill 7-5.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Dahlonega, GA to take on the University of North Georgia Nighthawks on February 27 at 1 and 3 p.m. They will then travel down to Jacksonville, FL on March 5 to take on the Trinity Baptist Eagles. The Warriors will remain in Florida on March 6 to take on the Flagler College Saints.
