Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel College Lions on Monday evening in a 78-65 final score.
The Warriors shot 35% from the field and went 75% from the free throw line in the loss. Senior
Demarcus Addie led the team with 25 points. Addie was followed by
Ta'Jay Dunlap with 13 points. Southern Wesleyan had nine assists with three Warriors leading the team with two. The Warriors had 24 rebounds during the game with
Tranard Ferrell leading the team with six. Dunlap had four steals during the game with Ferrell following with three.

How It Happened
A jump shot by Jayvion Rucker put Emmanuel on the board first, but Southern Wesleyan countered with a three pointer by
Demarcus Addie. The Lions put up a three pointer by Michael Wright and a layup by Rucker to put them on top 10-5. Southern Wesleyan challenged right back with jump shots by
Hunter Davis and Addie to put the Warriors within four points. Emmanuel pushed on jump shot by Kyler Ingram, but another three by Addie put Southern Wesleyan down 19-16.
Arusha Hunter and
Jacob Smith each sunk jump shots to make the score 26-21 with just over seven minutes left in the first half of play. The Lions continued to push ahead, taking a nine point lead on a layup by Brandon Simpson. Despite another three by Addie, the Warriors trailed the Lions 45-31 at the half.
Jalen Lowery kicked off the second half for the Warriors with a three point shot off a pass from
Ta'Jay Dunlap. However, the Lions pushed ahead, taking a 14-point lead on a three point shot by Michael Wright. Addie collected the ball off a steal from Dunlap and pressed the ball down the court on a fast break to allow the Warriors to come to 48-36 behind the Lions. Emmanuel continued to attack Southern Wesleyan's defense, but the Warriors fought back with a 3-point shot by Addie and layup by Dunlap to stay within fourteen points of the Lions.
Tranard Ferrell dunked the ball into the net to put Southern Wesleyan down 65-53 with just over seven minutes left to play. Despite a late layup by Davis and three pointer by Addie, the Warriors fell to the Lions 78-65.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next welcome the Chowan Hawks to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on February 19 at 7 p.m. They will then host the Barton Bulldogs on February 20 at 4 p.m. The Warriors will then travel to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine College Flying Fleet on February 22 at 7 p.m.
