Tigerville, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell on a double overtime buzzer beater to the North Greenville Crusaders on Friday evening in a 90-87 final score.
The Warriors shot 50.8% from the field in the loss to the Crusaders and went 36.4% from beyond the three point line. Five Warriors recorded double digits in the loss with
Demarcus Addie leading the team with 26 points. Addie was followed by
Hunter Davis (17) and
Jalen Lowery (16). Southern Wesleyan had 19 assists with
Tranard Ferrell leading the team with six. Ferrell was followed by Lowery with four.
Southern Wesleyan collected 32 rebounds during the game. Addie and Davis each recorded nine rebounds to lead the team. The lone block of the evening came from
Jacob Smith. The Warriors had six steals during the game with Lowery leading the team with three. Lowery was followed by Addie with two.

How It Happened
North Greenville took the first points of the game on free throws by Tracus Chisholm, but the Warriors quickly countered on a layup by
Hunter Davis to tie the game up 2-2. A 3-pointer by Chisholm allowed the Crusaders to take a 9-6. North Greenville continued to push ahead, but a layup by
Jalen Lowery sunk a shot from beyond the 3-point line to allow the Warriors to tie it up. Back-to-back three point shots by
Jacob Smith allowed the Warriors to push ahead and take a 17-11 point advantage over the Crusaders.
Demarcus Addie passed the ball over to
Arusha Hunter in the corner, who put it into the net to put Southern Wesleyan's lead at 26-14. Free throws by Jalon Cokley but the Crusaders within ten points, but a jump shot by Addie put Southern Wesleyan back on top by 12 points. The Warriors continue to distance themselves from the Crusaders as Hunter and Lowery put up back-to-back three point shots to give Southern Wesleyan a twenty point advantage. Despite late baskets by North Greenville, the Warriors led 41-27 at half.
North Greenville attacked early in the second half as Cokley sunk a three, but the Warriors countered with their own three point shot by Lowery. The Crusaders challenged right back, coming to within ten points of Southern Wesleyan on free throw baskets by Samson Mack. However, a 3-point shot by Hunter allowed the Warriors to regain their 12-point advantage over North Greenville. Back-to-back baskets by Addie put the Warriors lead at 57-50 with just over eleven minutes left in the second half of competition. North Greenville will not be discouraged as CJ Jamison and Chisholm sunk jump shots to put the Crusaders within two points of the Warriors lead.
Tranard Ferrell stole the ball away from the Crusaders and then laid it up to give the Warriors a 61-57 point advantage. With just over five minutes left, Lowery stole the ball away from the Crusaders and passed it to Davis under the net. Davis laid the ball up to put the Warriors lead at 64-57. Once again, the Crusaders came within two of the Warriors with a layup by Jacob Reddings, but a three point shot by Lowery put the Warriors back on top by four. With just five seconds left in the second half, Cokley hit three free throws to tie the game at 71 points apiece.
The Crusaders attacked early in overtime with a jump shot by Jamison, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot by Addie to tie the game up. North Greenville countered with back-to-back baskets to put them on top 77-73. However, the Warriors would not go quietly as Addie put up a jump shot to put Southern Wesleyan down by three. Ferrell passed the ball over to Addie who sunk it into the net from beyond the three point line to tie the game at 80 points apiece and force a second overtime period.
The Crusaders struck first again in the second overtime period as Cokley laid the ball up to put North Greenville on top 82-80. Free throw baskets by Davis allowed the Warriors to tie the game back up. A jump shot by Addie allows the Warriors to keep the game tied up, but the Crusaders regained the lead on a jump shot by Kameron Hobbs. A half court buzzer beater allowed North Greenville to take the game 90-87.

Southern Wesleyan will next host the North Greenville Crusaders in Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on February 13 at 4 p.m. The Warriors will remain at home on February 15 as they welcome the Emmanuel College Lions to Central, SC. They will remain at home on February 19 as they welcome the Chowan Hawks to Tysinger Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
