Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan challenged Barton in the final home match of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors collected 24 kills in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Amber Bass led the team with 10 kills.
Ashley Sexton recorded 20 of the 23 assists of the afternoon.
Ashley Sexton and
Jarena Byers each had service aces. Southern Wesleyan had four blocks with
Tiyonnah Brown leading the team with three.
Ashlyn Holford followed with two. Of the 47 digs the Warriors had during the match, Bass led the team with 14.

Set One
Barton kicked off the match with kills by Allison Gambill off sets by Sarah Kirk. The Bulldogs maintained the intensity, taking a 9-0 lead before a kill by
Riley Young put the Warriors on the board. Barton continued to push ahead with kills by Gambill and Lily Haaga to give them a 19-2 point advantage. Despite kills by
Trinity Eichman,
Amber Bass and
Emily Ellis, the Warriors dropped the first set 25-10.
Set Two
Barton took the first point of the second set on an ace by Brooke Clute, however Southern Wesleyan countered with a kill by
Amber Bass to tie the match 1-1. The Warriors pushed ahead with blocks by Tiyonnah and
Ashlyn Holford and an ace by Ashly Sexton. Southern Wesleyan and Barton battled back-and-forth, exchanging the lead several times before a kill by
Riley Young pushed the Warriors ahead 11-10. Sexton passed the ball to
Ashlyn Holford who put down a kill to give the Warriors a six point advantage over the Bulldogs. Barton battled back, going on a six point run to win the second set 25-20.
Set Three
Brooke Clute kicked off the third set with a kill to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. However, the Warriors fought back to tie the final set 2-2 off a kill by
Emily Ellis. Southern Wesleyan kept up the intensity with blocks by Ellis and
Ashlyn Holford. The Bulldogs countered with attacks of their own to regain the lead, but blocks by
Tiyonnah Brown and
Trinity Eichman kept the Warriors within one. Kills by
Amber Bass allowed Southern Wesleyan to take an 11-9 point lead. Holford kept the Warriors within one of the Bulldogs with several kills of her own. Barton continued to challenge the Warriors attacks with kills of their own to win the final set 25-22.

Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions on November 10 at 7 p.m.
