Tigerville, SC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the North Greenville for the first time since the 2017-18 season in a 78-68 final score.
The Warriors shot 44.1% from the field and went 66.7% from the free throw line in their first victory of the season.
Tristen Berry led the Warriors with 20 points and went 4-7 from beyond the arc. Berry was followed by
Brooke Henricks with 13 points and
Shelby Glance with 12. Southern Wesleyan collected 17 assists with Berry recording seven. She was followed by
Brittany Mack with four.
Defensively, the Warriors collected 42 rebounds. Both
Shelby Glance and
Lonesha Lee led the team with six rebounds apiece.
Jamyah Montissol had the lone block of the afternoon for Southern Wesleyan.
Tristen Berry collected four of the 10 steals.

How It Happened
The Warriors struck early in the debate against the Crusaders of North Greenville as
Brittany Mack sunk a ball from beyond the arc to give Southern Wesleyan a 3-0 lead. They extended their lead to 5-0 on a jump shot by
Kayla Garrett moments later. The Crusaders countered on a three by Haylee Luttrell and a jump shot by Morgan Vulpis to tie the game up at five points apiece. North Greenville pushed ahead on a driving layup by Jayda Glass, but
Tristen Berry countered with a layup of her own to tie the game up 7-7 with just over five minutes left. Southern Wesleyan pushed ahead taking a four point lead on a jump shot by
Nakia Hooks. North Greenville countered, but Southern Wesleyan led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter.
North Greenville cut Southern Wesleyan's lead to three with a driving layup by Tolisha Walker to start the second quarter. However, a jump shot by
Lonesha Lee allowed the Warriors to maintain a one point advantage with just over eight minutes left.
Brittany Mack sunk a jump shot to extend the Warriors lead, and then Mack passed the ball over to
Tristen Berry who put it in from beyond the arc to put Southern Wesleyan on top 23-17 with just under seven minutes left. North Greenville would not go down quietly as they chipped away at Southern Wesleyan's lead and then tied the game on a three pointer by Abi Oates. The Warriors would not relent though as Berry drove to the net and laid the ball up to put the Warriors back on top 29-28. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as a three and free throws by
Brooke Henricks put the Warriors ahead 37-33 at the half.
The Warriors took the first points of the third quarter on a jump shot in the paint by
Kayla Garrett. North Greenville countered with a jump shot by Tolisha Walker. However, baskets by Garrett and
Shelby Glance allowed Southern Wesleyan to maintain a three point lead with just over seven minutes left in the third quarter. The Crusaders would not go down easily as Tabitha Littlefield made a jump shot in the paint to give them a 46-45 point lead. However, the Warriors regained the lead seconds later on a jump shot by
Brooke Henricks. Free throws by Henricks put the Warriors on top by ten with under a minute left in the third quarter.
North Greenville challenged in the fourth as Jykya Bell made a jump shot to kick off the final quarter of play. However,
Tristen Berry sunk the ball into the net from beyond the arc to put the Warriors lead at 61-52. The Crusaders continued to challenge, but jump shots by
Brooke Henricks and
Kayla Garrett allowed the Warriors to maintain their nine point advantage with just over six minutes left to play. Southern Wesleyan would not let up as jump shots by
Shelby Glance and
Lonesha Lee put them on top 69-56. North Greenville challenged back, but Southern Wesleyan would not let up as
Brittany Mack raced down the court on a fast break with thirty seconds left to put the Warriors ahead by eleven. The Warriors went on to pick up their first win in a 78-68 final.
What's Next
The Warriors will remain on the road on December 3 as they travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Converse Valkyries at 5 p.m. They will then travel to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado on December 11. Southern Wesleyan will travel to Due West, SC on December 15 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet, before returning to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on December 18 to host the Francis Marion Patriots in Central, SC at 2 p.m.
