Greenwood, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Lander Bearcats in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in a 68-65 final score.
The Warriors shot 38.6% from the field and were 41.4% from beyond the arc in the victory over the Bearcats.
Tranard Ferrell led the Warriors with 14 points. Ferrell was followed by
Ta'Jay Dunlap,
Demarcus Addie and
Arusha Hunter with 12 points each. Southern Wesleyan collected 15 assists with Ferrell leading the team with five.
Southern Wesleyan had 36 rebounds during the game with
Tranard Ferrell recording 11 to give him his first double-double of the season.
Hunter Davis had three of the Warriors five blocks of the evening. The Warriors had five steals with
Demarcus Addie recording three.

How It Happened
The Bearcats took the first points of the game off a layup by DaJuan Moorer, however a three point shot by
Ta'Jay Dunlap allowed the Warriors to tie the game up 3-3. Lander regained the lead, but it was short lived as
Hunter Davis passed the ball over to
Davion Bradford who sunk a three to allow Southern Wesleyan to tie the game back up. Back-to-back layups by
Demarcus Addie and Davis put the Warriors on top 10-9. Southern Wesleyan pushed ahead with a three point shot by
Tranard Ferrell and a layup by Bradford to give them a three-point lead. The Bearcats challenged back to take the lead, but a three point shot by
Arusha Hunter allowed the Warriors to tie the game up 22-22. Lander continued to push ahead with a three pointer by Deandre Robinson, but free throws by
Hunter Davis allowed the Warriors to come to 30-31 behind the Bearcats at half time.
Lander jumped out on the offensive in the second half with a three point basket by Martin Vogts.
Demarcus Addie took a pass from
Davion Bradford, and then sunk the ball into the net from beyond the arc to keep Southern Wesleyan within three points of the Bearcats. The Warriors continued to fight back though as
Ta'Jay Dunlap made a three point shot and
Tranard Ferrell laid the ball up to put Southern Wesleyan back on top 40-39. Lander countered, but a three point shot by
Julian Cameron kept the Warriors ahead. Southern Wesleyan extended to their lead to five points on a three point basket by
Demarcus Addie, however Lander countered with a three point shot by Laraymond Spivery. The Warriors pushed ahead by six on a jump shot by
Arusha Hunter. Lander tied the game back up 62-62 on a free throw by DaJuan Moorer, but a three point shot by Dunlap allowed Southern Wesleyan to regain the lead. A last minute three point shot by Dunlap allowed the Warriors to walk away with a 68-65 point victory.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host their home and Conference Carolinas opener on November 23 as they welcome the Belmont Abbey Crusaders to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. They will then travel to Dahlonega, GA on November 27 to take on the University of North Georgia Nighthawks. The Warriors will remain on the road on November 30 as they take on the North Greenville Crusaders at 7:30 p.m.
