Augusta, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped their season opener to the Augusta Jaguars in a 75-53 final score.
The Warriors shot 32.1% from the field in the loss.
Tristen Berry led the Warriors, collecting 11 points during the game. Berry was followed by
Brooke Henricks with nine points. Southern Wesleyan had eight assists with Henricks recording four. She was followed by
Cambria Parker with two assists.
Defensively, the Warriors collected 35 total rebounds as a team.
Shelby Glance led the team with 10 of the rebounds.
Sasha Schoenborn had the lone block of the evening. Southern Wesleyan had four steals with

How It Happened
The Jaguars took the first points of the season opener as Kennedi Manning laid the ball up to give them a 2-0 point lead. Trailing by six,
Lonesha Lee sunk a jumper to put the Warriors down 2-6. A jump shot by
Nakia Hooks and a three point shot by
Brooke Henricks allowed the Warriors to come within three, but Augusta countered with a layup by Manning to extend their lead to 10-7. Augusta continued to push ahead to lead 26-9 after the first quarter.
Augusta maintained the offensive in the second quarter with a layup by Kennedi Manning, but the Warriors countered with a layup by
Brooke Henricks. The Jaguars were not threatened as Manning sunk several more layups to extend her team's advantage.
Shelby Glance collected a pass from Henricks and laid the ball up to put the Warriors down 32-16 with just over seven minutes left in the second quarter. Despite a three pointer by Glance, the Jaguars led the Warriors 40-22 at halftime.
Tristen Berry kicked off the third quarter with a three point shot to put the Warriors behind the Jaguars by fifteen. Augusta continued to push ahead, but Berry made another three to make the score 43-28. The Jaguars maintained the intensity with layups by Ashleigh Boulin and Tomiyah Alford. Despite free throws by

Brooke Henricks and
Lonesha Lee, the Warriors trailed the Jaguars 60-38 after the third quarter.
The Jaguars took the first points of the final quarter on a layup by Zairya West, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot by
Lonesha Lee to put them within 22-points of Augusta. Free throws by
Tristen Berry put the Warriors within twenty. The Jaguars pushed further ahead on baskets by Nijah Cunningham and Tomiyah Alford. The Warriors came back within 20 points on a jump shot by
Sasha Schoenborn. Despite a last second three pointer by
Jamyah Montissol, the Warriors fell to the Jaguars 75-53.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain in Augusta, GA tomorrow as they take on the Georgia College Bobcats at 1 p.m. They will then host the University of Tampa Spartans on November 16 in Historic Tysinger Gymnasium in their home opener. The game will have a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Warriors will then take on the Wofford Terriers in exhibition play on November 19.
