How It Happened
Set One
The Braves took the first point, pushing ahead to 4-1 before a kill by
Amber Bass allowed the Warriors to cut UNC Pembroke's lead in half. UNC Pembroke continued to push ahead, taking a ten point lead on blocks by Katie Pressley and Brianna Warren. However, the Warriors continued to challenge with kills by
Ashlyn Holford and Bass. The Braves went on to win the first set 25-9.
Set Two
UNC Pembroke continued the intensity in the second set, but a kill by
Riley Young put Southern Wesleyan on the board. The Braves continued to counter the Warriors attacks, but Southern Wesleyan pressured back with kills by
Amber Bass and
Ashlyn Holford. However, UNC Pembroke did not let up, winning the second set 25-10.
Set Three
The Braves charged out of the gate in the final set, taking a 7-0 lead before an error by UNC Pembroke allowed Southern Wesleyan to get on the board. Kills by
Ashlyn Holford and
Emily Ellis put the Warriors within nine of the Braves. Despite late kills by
Amber Bass, the Braves took the final set 25-17.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Central, SC on October 13 as they host the Emmanuel College Lions at 7 p.m. They will remain at home on October 15 as they face the Francis Marion Patriots and October 16 as they face the Lees-McRae Bobcats. The Warriors will then travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey.
