Coach Meneses says…

"I thought it was just great to have a good game during senior day.  Just to have the win as we celebrate our seniors who are graduating from SWU, they worked so hard for this moment and it was just fantastic.  Getting to have all of the parents there and then celebrating afterwards with them.  It was just an awesome day for us."

How It Happened

The Warriors charged out of the gate as Cayla Hughes and Joy Namyst each took shots on the goal, however Daelynn Perry got between their attacks and the net to keep Southern Wesleyan off the board.  Southern Wesleyan kept up the pressure with more attacks on the back of the net, but the Converse defense stayed strong.  Despite shots by Madi Wurst and Heily Hernandez, the game remained tied 0-0 at the half.

Southern Wesleyan started the second half strong as Joy Namyst collected a rebounded ball off of a Valkyries' player and put it into the back of the net to put the Warriors on top 1-0.  Converse countered as Rowan Deubel scored to tie the game up 1-1.  The Warriors increased the intensity with shots by Hope Robson and Bryanna Pickens, but the Valkyries thwarted their attacks.  However, the Warriors kept up the pressure as Giorgi Lamb sent the ball forward.  Cayla Hughes collected the ball and drilled it into the net to allow the Warriors to win the game 2-1.
