Pembroke, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the UNC Pembroke Braves on Saturday afternoon in a 4-1 final score.
The Warriors collected three shots, two on goal in the loss to the Braves.
Ashley Allen led the team with two shots on goal, one of which being the lone goal for the Warriors.
Joy Namyst also collected a shot.
Taylor Hanzel started in goal for the Warriors, collecting nine saves.
Samantha Benner came into the goal in relief, collecting eight saves.

How It Happened
UNC Pembroke charged out of the gate as Anna Grossheim put the ball into the back of the net thirteen seconds into the game to give the Braves the early lead. The Braves continued their attack, but
Taylor Hanzel and the Warriors defense stayed strong to protect the net. Their attacks paid off in the end as Alexis Pittman and Kennedy Rucker each scored to give the Braves a 3-0 lead at the half.
The Braves continued their attacks in the second half as a goal by Brianna De Coteau gave UNC Pembroke a 4-0 advantage. The Warriors challenged back as
Ashley Allen attacked the net, but Anna Bass kept the Warriors off the board. Allen would not let up as minutes later she put the ball into the back of the net to put the Warriors down 4-1. Despite a late shot by
Joy Namyst, the Warriors fell to the Braves in the end.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Childs Field on October 27 as they welcome the Belmont Abbey Crusaders to Central, SC for a 5 p.m. kick-off. They will then wrap up the regular season on the road as they travel to Banner Elk, NC to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 1:30 p.m.
