Columbia, SC – Southern Wesleyan competed in the Carolina Challenge for their third indoor meet of the season on Saturday against Division I competition.
 

How It Happened
 
Track Results
60 Meter Dash : In the preliminaries , Carrie Barton led the Warriors taking 14^th with a time of 8.04.  Barton was followed by teammate Avrel Jean in 18^th with a time of 8.74.
 
60 Meter Hurdles : In the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles, Meshayla Maddox finished in 13^th with a time of 10.00.
 
200 Meters : Carrie Barton led the Warriors in the 200 meters.  Barton finished in 26^th with a time of 26.95.  She was followed by Lauryn Tate with a time of 28.00 to put her in 29^th.  Meshayla Maddox wrapped up the field for the Warriors with a 30^th place finish with a time of 28.67.
 
400 Meters : In the 400 meters, the Warriors were led by Michele Beugre.  Beugre finished in ninth with a time of 58.06.  She was followed by teammate Lauryn Tate, Keyanna Williams and Carmen DeVries.  Tate took 12^th with a time of 1:03.07.  Williams (13^th) and DeVries (14^th) finished with times of 1:03.11.  Blessing Laudermilich wrapped up the field for the Warriors, taking 15^th with a time of 1:03.47.
 
800 Meters : Taylor Broadwell led the Warriors in the 800 meters.  Broadwell finished in 24^th with a time of 2:32.52.  Hattie Pitts and Lycia Zavala followed Broadwell in the 800 meters.  Pitts finished in 27^th with a time of 2:39.95 and Zavala took 28^th with a time of 2:44.75.
 
Mile : Senior Kyra Hood led the Warriors in the mile with a time of 5:39.83 to put her in 19^th place.  She was followed by Julia Reeves and Gisselle Lopez.  Reeves finished in 22^nd with a time of 6:20.83.  Lopez followed seconds behind her to take 23^rd with a time of 6:20.93.
 
3000 Meters : Kyra Hood led the Warriors in the women's 3000 meters, taking ninth with a time of 12:18.03.  She was followed by Gisselle Lopez in 10^th with a time of 12:52.81.  Julia Reeves wrapped up the field for the Warriors, finishing in 11^th with a time of 12:53.56.
 
Field Results
High Jump : Paige Peterson finished in 11^th in the high jump with a jump of 1.56 meters.
 
Long Jump : Blessing Laudermilich led the Warriors in the long jump.  Her jump of 4.80 meters put her in 16^th place.  She was followed by Alaysia Gaston in 18^th with a jump of 4.60 meters.
 
Shot Put : Kelsie Smith led the Warriors in the shot put, finishing 14^th with a throw of 10.97 meters.  Freshman Hannah Johnson finished right behind Smith.  Johnson took 15^th for a distance of 9.73 meters.
 
Weight Throw : Senior Kelsie Smith finished in 11^th in the weight throw with her throw of 14.21 meters.  Hannah Hall followed in 14^th with a throw of 10.30 meters.
 
 
What's Next
 
Southern Wesleyan will next take part in the ETSU Track and Field Invitational on February 5 and 6 in Johnson City, TN.  They will wrap up the regular section of the indoor season at the USC Indoor Open on February 13.
