Bristol, TN – Southern Wesleyan dropped game two of the weekend series against the King Tornado in an 87-42 final score on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors shot 28.1% from the field in the loss.
Brooke Henricks led the team with 11 points in the loss. Southern Wesleyan collected seven assists with
Lonesha Lee leading the team with two. Three Warriors recorded blocks during the game and Henricks led the team in steals with two.
Amy Soumare recorded five of the 33 rebounds.

How It Happened
The King Tornado took the first points of the game on a jump shot by Kiki Samsel and then a layup by Julie Ford allowed the Tornado to extend the lead to 4-0. The Warriors countered seconds later as
Sasha Schoenborn passed the ball half way down the court to
Amy Soumare who put the ball up to make the score 4-2.
Brooke Henricks stole the ball away from the Tornado and took the ball down the court to score and keep the Warriors within four points. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge the King defense as Henricks hit a 3-pointer and
Diamond Ellison made a jump shot to put the Warriors down 9-12.
Tristen Berry sent the ball back to Henricks who put it up into the basket from beyond the three point line to allow the Warriors to tie the game 12-12.
Ellison made a free throw shot, but a three point basket by Ryleigh Fritz allowed the Tornado to regain a 4-point advantage in the second quarter. King distanced themselves a little, but a layup by Schoenborn put the visiting Southern Wesleyan team back within five points. Berry sunk a three pointer for the Warriors, but the Tornado countered with a three point shot by Jhayda McKinney to give King a 25-18 point advantage. Despite a late 3-pointer by Henricks, the Warriors trailed the Tornado 41-27 at halftime.
The Tornado struck first in the third quarter as Trinity Lee made a jump shot to give King a 43-27 point lead.
Lonesha Lee collected the ball for the Warriors and passed it up to teammate
Caroline Reese. Reese took it to the net, but a second layup by Trinity Lee allowed the Tornado to pull ahead 47-29.
Treasure Lone sunk a 3-pointer and then
Essence Sims followed with a layup to put the Warriors down 34-52. Despite several more baskets by the Tornado, the Warriors maintained the pressure as
Halee Morrison laid the ball up to end the third quarter trailing 36-58.
Ryleigh Fritz sunk back-to-back three point shots to kick off the fourth quarter for the Tornado. King's Ali Golden sunk a three to put the Tornado ahead 69-36. Reese collected the ball from Sims and put it into the net from beyond the 3-point line to put the Warriors down 39-74. Despite made free throws by Sims and Schoenborn, the Warriors fell to the Tornado 87-42.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on January 27 as they welcome Bluefield State College to Central, SC at 6 p.m. They will then travel to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive on January 30 at 2 p.m. The Warriors will remain on the road on February 2 as they travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Converse College Valkyries.
