Warriors Finish in Top Places in Gamecock Opener

Columbia, SC – The Warriors finished in top of the field in several events in the second Indoor Track and Field event of the season on Saturday.
 

How It Happened

Track Events
60 Meter Hurdles : In the preliminaries of the Women's 60 Meter Hurdles, Meshayla Maddox took 18th with a time of 10.24.

400 Meter Dash : Michele Beugre led the Warriors in the 400 Meter Dash, finishing 12th place with a time of 1:02.12.  Beugre was closely followed by teammates Carmen DeVries and Keyanna Williams.  DeVries took 16th with a time of 1:02.83 and Williams followed in 17th with a time of 1:03.46.  Carrie Barton was right behind them, taking 18th with a time of 1:03.56.  Lauryn Tate took 21st with a time of 1:04.34.  Tate was followed by Blessing Laudermilich and Avrel Jaen.  Laudermilich took 22nd with a time of 1:04.90 and Jean finished in 23rd with a time of 1:05.01.

800 Meters : In the Women's 800 Meters, Lycia Zavala led the Warriors finishing in eighth with a time of 2:41.48.  She was followed by Madison Lewellen in ninth with a time of 2:42.35.  Abbey Frock wrapped up the field for the Warriors, taking 11th with a time of 2:44.41.

Mile : Freshman Macey Morgan led the Warriors in the Mile.  Morgan took sixth place with a time of 5:33.50.  She was followed by teammates Madison Lewellen and Taylor Broadwell.  Lewellen took ninth place with a time of 5:39.10 while Broadwell finished in tenth with a time of 5:40.90.  Kyra Hood finished in 12th place with a time of 5:45.54 and Sydney Palmer finished in 13th with a time of 5:48.16.  Abbey Frock wrapped up the field for the Warriors, taking 14th with a time of 5:48.44.

3000 Meters : Kyra Hood finished in fifth place with a time of 11:59.44.
 
Field Events
Long Jump : In the Long Jump, Blessing Laudermilich finished in seventh place with a jump of 5.04 meters.

Pole Vault : Haley McLaughlin finished in eighth place in the Pole Vault with a vault of 2.67 meters.

Weight Throw : Kelsie Smith led the Warriors in the Weight Throw.  Her throw of 14.77 meters allowed her to finish in eighth place.  She was followed by Hannah Hall in 12th with a throw of 10.56 meters and Hannah Johnson in 14th with a throw of 10.03 meters.
 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will return to Columbia, SC on January 23 as they take part in the Carolina Challenge.  They will then travel to Johnson City, TN to take part in the ETSU Track and Field Invitational on February 5 and 6.
