Warriors Fall in Conference Opener

Franklin Springs, G.A. - Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel College Lions in a 6-1 final on Tuesday afternoon.

"Our women's team competed very hard today. They gave their best effort and I am pleased with that. They didn't get the results, but they played with enthusiasm! They are moving in the right direction!"

 

How It Happened

The Warriors went 1-2 in doubles action on Tuesday. Iva Jankovic and Neomi Aguirre fell to Maria Raich Solans and Julia Ramos in a 6-1 final. Paulina Jankun and Torrienne Emery defeated Elisa Weng and Victoria Silva 6-4. Lydia Kovats and Ashley Dube fell to Lauren Castillon and Selina Donecker in a 6-0 final.

In singles action, Southern Wesleyan went 1-5. Iva Jankovic fell to Maria Raich Solans in a 6-1 and 6-2 final. Neomi Aguirre fell to Elisa Weng 6-0 and 6-4. Paulina Jankun defeated Zyanya Rogel in 6-4 and 6-3 final scores. Torrienne Emery challenged, but fell to Marta Rozados in a 7-6 and 6-3 final. Ashley Dube fell to Victoria Silva in an 8-4 final and Lydia Kovats fell to Julia Ramos 6-4 and 6-1. 

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will travel to Hartsville, S.C. on February 28 to take on the Coker Cobras at 2 p.m. They will then host their home opener on February 29 as they welcome the Erskine Flying Fleet to town at 1 p.m.
