Box Score Central, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan defeated the Barton Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in a 97-87 final.
The Warriors shot 52.8% from the field in the seventh conference win of the season. Clenzo Ross led the team with a career-high 35 points on Saturday and he was followed by Cameron Holmes with 17 points, Jalen Lowery with 15 points, and Ta'Jay Dunlap with 14 points. Ross also contributed four assists while Solomon Smith added three. Southern Wesleyan posted 31 rebounds with Ross and Holmes leading the team with seven each. Four Warriors had steals on the day.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs started out with a 6-0 run before Cameron Holmes would deliver a 3-pointer to put the Warriors on the board. Barton maintained their lead for several minutes, but Holmes and Ta'Jay Dunlap would both knock down three's to take the 17-16 lead. The Bulldogs would counter, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Ross would put the Warriors ahead 26-20. Dunlap and Ross would push late in the first half for Southern Wesleyan and the Bulldogs were able to keep close, but the Warriors led 40-31 at halftime.
Ross would make the first basket in the second half, followed by a pair of free throws from Hunter Davis to increase the Warriors lead to 45-33. Jalen Lowery would re-enter the game a few minutes later adding six straight points. The last few minutes of the game would be a free throw competition between the Bulldogs and the Warriors. Southern Wesleyan would add eight points off of free throws, as compared to the Bulldogs five. The Warriors would hold onto a 90-83 lead with one minute remaining. By adding seven more, the Warriors would go on to win the game 97-87.

Southern Wesleyan returns to Historic Tysinger on January 20 to host the Mount Olive Trojans at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Murfreesboro, N.C. to take on the Chowan Hawks on January 25 at 4 p.m.
