Warriors Finish in Top 10 in Several Events at JDL College Team Challenge

Winston-Salem, NC – Southern Wesleyan competed in the JDL College Team Challenge on Thursday, with several individuals finishing in the top 10 in their events.

 

How It Happened

Women's Results

60 Meters : The Warriors took first, second and third in the Women's 60 Meters.  Lyric King led the Warriors with a time of 7.84.  She was followed by Mycherie Onwuzuruike in second with a time of 7.92 and Michele Beugre in third with a time of 7.97.

200 Meters : Michele Beugre led the Warriors in the 200 Meter, taking first with a time of 25.94.  She was followed by teammates Lyric King and Jami Lewis.  King finished with a time of 26.07 and Lewis with a time of 26.31.

400 Meters : In the 400 meters, Amanda Trapp led the Warriors, taking third with a time of 59.84.  She was followed by Jami Lewis in fifth with a time of 1:00.60.

Mile : In the mile, freshman Madison Lewellen finished with a time of 6:06.83.

60 Meter Hurdles : Chyna Campbell led the pack, taking first with a time of 8.98.  She was followed by teammate Skylar Julian in ninth with a time of 9.53.

Pole Vault : Haley McLaughlin took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.85 meters.

Triple Jump : The Warriors were led by Mycherie Onwuzuruike in the triple jump.  Onwuzuruike took first with a distance of 11.74 meters.  Her distance allowed her to become a NCAA DII provisional qualifier.  She was followed by Tierra Johnson in fifth with a distance of 10.69 meters and Grace Chen in 11th with a distance of 9.32 meters.

Weight Throw : Kelsie Smith and Chyna Cannon competed in the weight throw.  Smith took sixth with a distance of 13.72 meters.  Cannon followed in 10th with a distance of 12.78 meters.

 

Men's Results

400 Meters : Dymitric Ray led the field in the 400 meters, taking first with a time of 50.16.  He was followed by teammates Shonquez Caldwell and Jannai Maxwell.  Caldwell took third with a time of 50.89 and Maxwell followed with a time of 53.42.

800 Meters : Kaleb Jackson took 19th with a time of 2.22:76.

60 Meter Hurdles : In the 60 meter hurdles, Leonard Holmes claimed third place with a time of 8.49.

High Jump : Chandler Whittle and Johnny Bogert competed in the high jump for the Warriors.  Whittle took sixth with a height of 1.85 meters while Bogert followed in ninth with a height of 1.80 meters.

Weight Throw : Keauntai Robinson took seventh place in the weight throw as he threw a distance of 14.11 meters.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next compete in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championship on February 17 to conclude the Indoor Track and Field Season.
