Southern Wesleyan Defeats Mars Hill

Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan defeats Mars Hill 6-3 in Women's Tennis to bring their season record to 2-3.

"The team played really well tonight. Lost tough matches at #1 and #2 singles today but we competed. I'm really excited for the future of the women's team. Just have to keep working on our weaknesses."

 

How It Happened                                                                                     

Southern Wesleyan took two of the three doubles matches.  They won the third match by default.  Mars Hill took the first match 8-1, however Southern Wesleyan's Alexia Rodriguez and Jennifer Ball won the second match 8-3 to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead over the Lions of Mars Hill.

The Warriors won four out of six singles matches.  Alexia Rodriguez and Jennifer Ball lost the first two matches in tough competition against the Lions.  However, the Warriors took the next three matches.  Aimee Dorley took her match 6-1 and 6-1, and Kristi Cooper and Elizabeth Mulkey both swept their matches 6-0 and 6-0.  The Warriors won the match 6-3.

 

What's Next

The Warriors will travel to Anderson on February 22 to take on the Trojans before returning home on February 24 to begin Conference Carolinas competition and face the Mount Olive Trojans.  They will remain at home on February 25 to take the Barton Bulldogs.
