SWU Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne

Hickory, N.C. – Warriors fall to Lenoir-Rhyne in a final score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon to bring their record to 1-3 for the season.

Coach Jernigan Says…

"The girls tried their best today and fought hard but being a player down right now just was too much to overcome today. We were down 2-0 before we even started today by only having 5 players. Congrats to freshman Kristi Cooper as she continues to win her dual matches and moves to 3-0 for the spring season."

 

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan fell in all three of their doubles matches on Saturday.  Falling in the first two sets 8-1 and 8-2 before losing the third match by default.

In singles, freshman Kristi Cooper pulled out the lone Warrior victory of the afternoon.  Cooper one her set 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(7).  Jennifer Ball threatened in her set, however she could not gain the upper hand as she fell 6-4 and 7-6.

 

What's Next

The Warriors will next play at home on February 20 where they will take on Mars Hill.  They will then travel to Anderson to take on the Trojans on February 22 before returning home on February 24 and 25 to begin conference competition versus the Mount Olive Trojans and Barton Bulldogs.
