MOBILE, Ala.- Southern Wesleyan women's tennis team fell 5-0 to Dallas Baptist and 5-0 to Indiana Wesleyan on day one of pool play at the NCCAA Women's Tennis Championships.
The Warriors (8-14) went 0-2 in singles play and 0-3 in doubles play against Dallas Baptist.
In singles competition, Madeline Coffman defeated Tadala Kandulu 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 and Southern Wesleyan defaulted at the No. 6. The other four singles matches went unfinished because the Warriors would not be able to come back in the match to win it.
In doubles competition, Ana Marija Banic/Maria Fernandez defeated Jennifer Ball/Chyna Jones 9-7 at the No. 1, Amanda Richter/Liz Slaughter defeated Aimee Dorley/Samantha Powell 8-4 at the No. 2, and Madeline Coffman/Bianca Tijerina defeated Kandulu/Elizabeth Mulkey 8-1 at the No. 3.
Southern Wesleyan went 0-2 in singles play and 0-3 in doubles play against Indiana Wesleyan.
In singles competition, Marissa Klein defeated Mulkey 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 and Rachel Bottorff defeated Jones 5-1 after Jones retired. The other four singles matches went unfinished.
In doubles competition, Solis/Wilson defeated Ball/Jones 8-0 at the No. 1, Bottorff/Mella defeated Dorley/Powell 8-2 at the No. 2, and Vessels/Hornett defeated Kandulu/Mulkey 8-1 at the No. 3.
The Warriors have a bye the second day of pool play, but they have been eliminated from the tournament due to losing both of their pool play matches in Pool A.
