Warriors Fall to Bears

PENDLETON, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan's women's tennis team fell 5-4 to Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Warriors (0-3) went 2-4 in singles play and 1-2 in doubles play.

In singles competition, Samantha Powell defeated Taylor Fredrickson 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 and Elizabeth Mulkey defeated Jessica Rumple 8-4 at the No. 6. Dominique Bruce defeated Aimee Dorley 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1, Marta Escanero Funes defeated Jennifer Ball 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2, Julia Ponomareva defeated Chyna Jones 6-2, 0-6, and 6-1 at the No. 3, and Lucy Stofberg defeated Tadala Kandulu 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4.

In doubles competition, Kandulu/Mulkey defeated Rumple/Fredrickson 8-2 at the No. 3. Bruce/Funes defeated Dorley/Jones 8-1 at the No. 1, and Ponomareva/Stofberg defeated Ball/Powell 8-6 at the No. 2.

Southern Wesleyan next hosts Queens tomorrow at 1 p.m.
