Crusaders knock off Warriors in season finale

BELMONT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's tennis wrapped up the season on Friday afternoon at Belmont Abbey, falling to the Lady Crusaders 8-1.

The Warriors picked up their lone win at No. 2 singles despite putting up a good showing. Elizabeth Mulkey picked up her third singles win of the season, defeating Alex Weber at No. 2 in three sets. Mulkey dominated the first set, 6-1, before falling 7-5 in a close second set. Mulkey took down Weber in the final set 10-7.

Samantha Powell also went three sets in her singles match at No. 1 but couldn't overcome Katharine Miller. Miller won the first set 7-6 (0) in a tiebreak before Powell bounced back to take the second 6-3 before falling in the third 10-3.

In doubles Mulkey and Powell lost 8-4 to Miller and Weber. Kaycee Blackwell also had a good showing in singles action, falling 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5.
