BANNER ELK, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's tennis fell to Lees-McRae 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors picked up their lone win at No. 1 doubles as Samantha Powell and Elizabeth Mulkey picked up their first win as a duo, defeating Hilary Lutz and Samantha Wohlers 8-6. In other doubles action Caroline Green and Amanda Chapman defeated SWU's Abbey Coker and Brooke Strickland 8-0 at No. 2.
In singles action the Warriors were shutout as both Powell and Mulkey fell by identical scores of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 and No. 2. In No. 4 singles action Strickland fell by a score of 6-2, 6-1 to Taylor Bost. Coker lost at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1 to Lutz while Kaycee Blackwell fell to Rachael Nobbs 6-1, 6-0.
The Warriors are scheduled to travel to Spartanburg to take on Converse on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
