Women's Tennis Drops Road Tilt at King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan women's tennis dropped a road match at King (Tenn.) on Saturday, losing to the Tornado 6-1.

The Warriors picked up a win in singles action as Samantha Powell earned her second victory of the season, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 over Nia Gilliam at No. 1 singles. Elizabeth Mulkey took her singles match to three sets before falling 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to Katya Cerny at No. 2 singles.

Also in singles action was Abbey Coker at No. 3 and Kaycee Blackwell at No. 4. Coker fell in straight sets to Haley Maloney, 6-4, 6-4 while Blackwell went down 6-3, 6-1 to Amanda Huffaker. King won No. 5 singles by default as a No. 6 singles match wasn't held.

In doubles action Coker and Blackwell lost to Maloney and Huffaker 8-4 at No. 2 while Powell and Mulkey fell to Cerny and Gilliam 8-3 at No. 1. The third doubles flight was not held.

The Warriors are scheduled to be back in action against Carson-Newman on Tuesday in a match that has been moved several times due to bad weather.
