CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan shot 33.3 percent from the field and 17.4 percent from the three-point line in its 80-74 loss to Allen.

Jemiah Wimphire posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Tyus Gaines scored 12 points, pulled in eight rebounds, and dished out four assists. Zach Watson scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.

The Fighting Yellow Jackets started off the game with a 24-7 run to establish a 17 point lead. The Warriors (1-8) cut the lead to two points with a 35-15 run over the final ten minutes of the first half. Watson scored 11 points and grabbed three rebounds. Wimphrie nearly had a double-double in the half as he scored nine points and pulled in eight rebounds.

Allen started off the second half with a 26-13 run to stretch their lead out to 15 points. Southern Wesleyan was able to cut the lead to four points with a minute remaining, but were unable to close out the game.

The Warriors will next compete Saturday at 4 p.m. against Barton College.
