ENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan scored six times and sent 10 batters to the plate in the ninth inning of game two as the Warriors walked off with a7-6 win. No. 3 Faulkner took game one 8-1.
The Warriors will hit the road on Tuesday to return a trip to Montreat. The Cavaliers took two of three from the Warriors earlier this year.
Game One
The Warriors were held to five hits as the Eagles jumped out early to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Faulkner added another run in the second and four more in the fifth. They had 12 hits on the day.
Julio Lara had two hits for the Warriors. SWU scored their lone run in the sixth as Tyler Lollis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Tyler Bice.
Game Two
the Warriors sent 10 batters to the plate in the ninth inning to come back from a 6-1 deficit to win 7-6. J.J Julian executed a perfected squeeze bunt as Stephen Wyatt beat the throw to give the Warriors the walk-off win. Julian also singles earlier in the inning to start the rally.
The Eagles didn't help themselves in the inning as they hit three batters and walked one. All three hit batters came from Brad Griffis. Griffis entered with the bases loaded after Julian singled, Justin Brew walked and Tyler Bice singled. Mike Hyman greeted Griffis with a bases clearing triple to deep left-center field that brought the Warriors within two at 6-4 with no one out.
Joe Boudolf was plunked following Hyman and Wyatt followed two batters later by being hit in the leg to load the bases again. A wild pitch brought the Warriors within one at 6-5. Julio Lara reached on a walk and Matt Arant was hit with a pitch to tie the game. Patrick McGrady entered for the Eagles and Julian provided the heroics.
Matt Craig picked up the complete game win for the Warriors to improve to 4-6. The senior gave up 10 hits and six runs, five coming in the second inning, and struck out seven. Griffis falls to 3-2 with the loss.
The Warriors outhit the Eagles 12-10 as Tyler Bice picked up three hits. Hyman and Julian each had two hits as Hyman drove in four.
