Holmes Leads Warriors Past Auburn-Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Southern Wesleyan men's basketball continued their strong performance, winning their fourth game in a row and fourth this week, 78-65 over Auburn-Montgomery.  This is the second victory over AUM this week.


Kenny Holmes poured in 33 points, his highest output of the season and second highest in his career.  Holmes knocked down seven three-pointers and made 12 of 19 from the floor as the Warriors overcame a 34-30 halftime deficit. 


The Warriors (14-12, 8-7 SSAC) embarked on a 16-0 run beginning at the 9:06 mark in the second half to take a 14-point lead and pull away for the victory.  Cameron Solomon scored 24 points to aid Holmes output.  Solomon made 8 of 11 from the charity stripe and also had four assists.


SWU shot .600 in the second half and .491 for the game while AUM shot just .432 in the game.  The Warriors made 11 of 23 from the three-point line as the Warhawks made just 5 of 17. 


The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Brewton-Parker for an 8 p.m. tip.
