Warriors Hold Off Bob Jones, 93-82

Box Score

CENTRAL, S.C. – After suffering a disappointing loss to Bob Jones two weeks ago the Warriors got revenge on the Bruins with a 93-82 win on Tuesday evening.

The Warriors (12-12) built a big lead in the first half, leading by 10 with 11:30 to play in the first half.  The lead grew to 18 before settling at 11 at the break, 38-27.  The Bruins shot just 29 percent in the first half as the Warriors shot 43 percent and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds which resulted in 13 second-chance points in the first half.

The second half lead grew to 20 at 77-57 with just 4:48 to play and when the Warriors thought they were going to bury the Bruins, the Bruins started to rally.  Bob Jones cut the lead all the way down to nine on two occasions but were unable to get any closer.

Cameron Solomon scored 22 of his 33 points in the second half, making six three's in the game.  The junior also pulled in a season-high 12 rebounds and recorded his first double-double of the season.  Solomon was not the only player lighting up the scoreboard on this night as the Bruins' Larry Taylor put up a game-high 34 points, 27 coming after intermission.  The Warriors didn't have an answer for the guard as he made 12 of 22 from the floor.

Bob Jones shot 43 percent while the Warriors shot 45 percent and made 8 of 18 from beyond the arc.  Bob Jones made nine treys in the game.  SWU shot an amazing 40 free throws, making 29 while Bob Jones went 17 of 23 from the line.

Dwayne Bryant added a double-double – the first time two Warriors have had a double-double in the same game this year – with 12 points and 15 rebounds.  Terrance Hutchins added 16 points off the bench and Kenny Holmes chipped in with 12.

The Warriors will host Coastal Georgia on Thursday as they step back into SSAC action.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
