What are your goals for the upcoming season? Personally, and with hard work, I hope to start every game and receive ample playing time. I also aim to receive the recognition of 1st Team All Conference, alongside maintaining a healthy GPA!
Why did you choose SWU? The Christian community paired with the exceptional academic criteria undoubtedly take the crown. During my recruitment process, adversities sprung into the horizon. Due to an injury, I was incapable of playing but one showcase during the peak of recruitment. Prayerfully, Coach Al recruited me from that one showcase. My struggle with finding a Christian school soon came to a halt 30 seconds after meeting him. I knew where God wanted me, and I cannot be happier with the blessing He has presented before me!
What is your favorite thing about SWU? The Christian community and the principles upheld within the academic realm. Every professor upholds high standards complying with the Christian Faith, and I absolutely adore this attribute. Even though I know the academics will be challenging, I know the professors hope to shape us into successful young men and women living for the truth of God– and doing so out of love.
Why is your sport important to you? Soccer has taught me an abundance more than just developing coordination with my feet. I was not always the most talented player, so grit and determination quickly became my asset for success. These two traits did not just display themselves on the field, but within the classroom, as well. Always putting 110% effort into everything that came across my plate, even if it wasn’t necessarily “my day.” Learning how to deal with adversity while still being thankful, learning how to keep my head up when desired outcomes were not upheld. learning how to take and give constructive criticism. All of these aspects play a major role in who I am as a person today, and for that I am forever grateful. Not to mention all of the irreplaceable relationships I have built with coaches, teammates, and opponents that will forever hold dear to my heart.
Who is your greatest influence in your life? Why? God; The only being who has never failed me, and never will. Although being treated like trash in the street, His compassion, patience, love and a multitude of other qualities are never ending. When I am frustrated, I try to resemble what He would want me to portray regarding the situation. Slow to anger, and uplifting in my words. Who wouldn’t want to have a perfect being as their role model? No matter my situation, good or bad, God will carry my broken self through.
Where do you want to be in five years? God willing, I hope to pursue law, preferably encompassing Christian morals. However, I am still doing research regarding law programs and have not made a decision as to which one I wish to attend! I also hope to be giving back to my community, whether that be coaching camps or organizing events as such.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get it? Vivers; My first trainer, Brad Nein, came up with the unordinary name while on an all-boys team. Ever since then, the name has stuck for close friends and family!
Favorite athlete? Michael Jordan (grit and determination)
Favorite food? Acai bowls! With blueberries, mango, kiwi, and almond butter drizzle:)
