Dean Mays begins the 2021-22 season enthusiastic to join the SWU team as an Assistant Tennis Coach.
Dean currently sits as President of United States Professional Tennis Association, South Carolina and works as a tennis professional at Cardinal Racquet Club. Since achieving his certification as a USPTA Tennis Professional over 20 years ago, he has built a diverse on-court resume’. In Vero Beach Florida, Dean enjoyed serving as Director of Tennis and Head Pro at Westside Racquet Club.  He served 5 years as the Head Tennis Coach for Saint Edwards School, helping his athletes achieve 5 conference titles. Working with the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation, Dean taught after school tennis programs to elementary school children in the community, coached teams and directed tournaments for the middle school league. High performance tennis training became a passion for Dean while working with students of The Lozano/Osorio Tennis Academy.
He hopes to share his expertise with the SWU team, helping each athlete to fine tune his/her skills and confidence.Â
Dean moved to SC in 2018 with his wife, Alison. They have four grown children and two dogs. Dean is an avid tennis player, and recently became certified as a pickleball instructor. He loves surfing, skiing, and riding personal watercraft- after making them run fast!  Dean is excited to be a part of the SWU Tennis family.
