Alison Mays enters the 2021-22 season excited to begin her first year as an SWU Assistant Tennis Coach.
While earning her degree in Physical Therapy, Alison played volleyball and tennis for Northeastern University. Years later, she decided to pursue her love of athletics and became USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) certified as a tennis teaching professional. She has been able to enjoy dual careers in Physical Therapy and Tennis until 2020, when she decided to retire from PT.
When living in Florida, she spent several years as Director of Tennis and Programs at the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation. She developed and grew a middle school club tennis program including all county middle schools, along with directing and coordinating after school tennis programs for all county elementary schools and homeschool associations. Upon leaving this position, she was impassioned to author a children’s book based upon her after school tennis experiences.
She and her husband, Dean, moved to SC in 2018. They have four grown children and two four-legged children! Alison loves family time and living in the upstate. In addition to playing tennis and pickleball, she loves to hike, sail, swim, and explore cool places to take photos!
She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the SWU team. She hopes she will be a positive asset to the team and is eager to share her knowledge and experience.
