Young Harris, GA – Southern Wesleyan challenged the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Saturday evening, but fell to them in a 3-2 final in the end.
The Warriors put up 16 shots with four being on goal. Josiah Pitts put up three shots on goal. Both Pitts and Leonardo Flores scored in the game. The assists came off the feet of David Leo Lund and Mason Councill. Jonah Keoughan played all ninety minutes in the goal and had three saves.

How It Happens
Southern Wesleyan went on the attack early as Leonardo Flores put up a shot, but the Mountain Lions backline was there to block his attack. The Mountain Lions answered as Pierre Guerin put up a shot, but the Warriors were there to block his shot. The Warriors were not done as David Leo Lund passed the ball up to Josiah Pitts. Pitts got around the defense and drilled the ball into the back of the net to give Southern Wesleyan the early lead. However, seconds later, Zander Filip was able to score to tie the game up at halftime.
The Warriors carried on their attacks in the second half as Steven Nunez took a couple shots on the goal, but neither of his attacks found the net. Young Harris answered as Amin Ghazi netted the second goal of the game for the Mountain Lions. The Mountain Lions would not relent as they put up several more shots on the net, but Jonah Keoughan knocked each one away. Finally their attacks paid off as Ondrej Kopecky scored Young Harris' third goal of the evening. Mason Councill passed the ball to the top of the box to Leonardo Flores who drilled the ball into the net to cut the Mountain Lions lead down to one. The Warriors continued to attack the net as Brody Schroeder and Luis Lezama each put up shots, but the Mountain Lions blocked each attack. Young Harris went on to win the game in a 3-2 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will hit the road to Greeneville, TN on September 9 to take on the Tusculum Pioneers at 6pm. They will then welcome the Barton Bulldogs to Central, SC on September 12. The Warriors will hit the road to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet on September 16.
