Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan is excited to announce Elise Foster of Women's Track & Field as this week's Mug Shot Coffee Athlete of the Week.

In the Conference Carolinas Championship of the 3000 meter steeplechase, the freshman out of Pendleton, SC put up an incredible showing.  After running the majority of the race sitting in fourth place, Elise Foster made a push in the final few laps of the race to gain ground on the first place finisher.  In the final lap, she ran the fastest last lap by the whole field by six seconds.  She continued to push and finished 1.5 seconds off of the first place finisher with an exciting finish off of the last water jump and final sprint to the finish line.

Her finishing time of 11:35.21 not only was a personal best for the freshman, but was also 25 seconds faster than the previous school record.  Foster second place in the race and earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
