Hartsville, SC – The Warriors fell to the Coker Cobras on Saturday afternoon in a 19-5 final.
The Warriors took 14 shots with seven being on target. Hayley Billings led the team with three goals in the game. The other goals came out of the sticks of Fianna Steves and Alexa Simpson. Steves and Trinity Bowman each had assists.
Southern Wesleyan won 10 draw controls with Alexa Simpson leading the team with four draws won in the game. Helen Posey led the team with four caused turnovers. Behind Posey, Trinity Bowman caused three turnovers. Fianna Steves picked up five ground balls.
Ava Lombardi started the game in the cage and played thirty nine minutes. Lombardi accumulated seven saves. Amanda Erikson played twenty one minutes in the cage and had seven saves.

How It Happened
Coker charged out of the gate as Kate Halcro scored off a pass from Mia MacMillan. The Warriors quickly answered as Hayley Billings got around the defense and sent the ball into the back of the cage. Seconds later the Cobras regained the advantage as Paulina LoCascio scored. The Warriors would not back down as Fianna Steves picked up a ground ball and drove the ball toward the cage to keep the game tied up at two. However, a couple more goals out of the stick of LoCascio allowed the Cobras to regain the advantage. Steves passed the ball out to Billings. Billings flipped the ball into the cage for another goal.
The Cobras took the first attack on the cage in the second quarter as Grace Miranda put up a shot, but Ava Lombardi was there to save the attack from paying off. Coker pressed on as Miranda and Olivia Buchanan scored back-to-back goals. Alexa Simpson collected a pass from Trinity Bowman and drilled the ball into the back of the cage to put the Warriors on the board. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge but the Cobras were able to knock the attacks by Fianna Steves and Taylor Townsend away. Coker continued to distance themselves as Kate Halcro and Reese Maidhof each scored to put the Cobras on top 13-4 at halftime.
Coker pressed on as Kate Halcro opened up the third quarter with a goal. The Warriors looked to cut into the Cobras lead as Trinity Bowman sent the ball toward the goal, but the ball ricocheted off the cross bar. Grace Miranda put up a couple more shots on the cage, but neither of her shots found the net. Jessica Pintado put up a shot on the cage, but Amanda Erikson was able to knock the ball away.
The Cobras would not relent as Paulina LoCascio scored once again to start the final quarter of the game. Southern Wesleyan looked to take the ball down the field as Trinity Bowman picked up a ground ball, but the Cobras were able to force the Warriors to turn the ball over once again. The Warriors pressed on as Haley Billings got the ball into the back of the cage. Grace Miranda attacked the cage once again, but Ava Lombardi knocked the ball away to prevent Coker from extending their lead any further. Coker won the game in a 19-5 final score.
