Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan swept away the Emmanuel Lions in doubleheader action on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors took the first game in a 7-0 final score. They then took the second game in an 11-2 final score.
Southern Wesleyan picked up 12 hits in the first game against the Lions. Reagan Fulcher, Olivia Haag and Megan Ware all doubled during the game. Rebecca Lamb and Abby Schreiner each had two home runs. The Warriors walked three times and both Haag and Riley Brown stole bases. Emily Collins pitched six innings and struck out four batters to gain the win. Bailey Throckmorton came in to pitch in relief and struck out two batters.
The Warriors had 11 hits in the second game of the series. Four Warriors had two hits in the game and Marissa Moreland had the lone multi-base hit as she got in a double. Southern Wesleyan walked four times and both Brandy Smith and Maddie Crouch stole bases. Anicka McFarland started the game in the circle and struck out two batters in the 1.1 innings she pitched. Bailey Throckmorton, Harley Hoffman and Carly Anderson all came in to pitch in relief. Hoffman struck out two batters and Anderson struck out one.

How It Happened
Game One
The Warriors brought in their first runs of the game in the top of the second inning. Chloe Smith led off the inning with a single. With one out and Smith at first, Abby Schreiner sent the ball over the fence for a two run home run.
Southern Wesleyan would not relent as Reagan Fulcher doubled to start the third inning. Fulcher came in to score as Rebecca Lamb sent the ball over the fence for a two run home run to extend the Warriors lead to four. With one out, Olivia Haag singled and then advanced to second as Maddie Crouch got down a single of her own. Megan Ware came up to the plate and hit a double to bring both Haag and Crouch to come in to score. With two outs and Ware at second, Riley Brown hit a single to bring Ware in to score and give the Warriors a 7-0 run victory in game one.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan scored first in the second game of the day as they brought seven runs in to score in the top of the first inning. Marissa Moreland led off the inning as she reached on an error by the Lions' shortstop. She advanced to second as Reagan Fulcher reached first on a five pitch walk. Rebecca Lamb singled to load up the bases for Chloe Smith. Smith walked to bring Moreland in to score. With the bases loaded, Olivia Haag hit a sacrifice fly out to center field to bring Fulcher in to score. Abby Schreiner then singled to load up the bases once again. Maddie Crouch reached first on an error at shortstop to allow both Lamb and Smith to come in to score. Megan Ware got down a single to load up the bases for the third time in the inning. However, Riley Brown hit into a fielder's choice that took Schreiner off the bases. Marissa Moreland then doubled to clear the bases and put the Warriors on top 7-0.
A two run home run off the bat of Ciara Passmore allowed the Lions to get on the board.
The Warriors would not relent as they brought some more runs in to score in the second inning. Rebecca Lamb led off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second as Chloe Smith got down a single. A sacrifice bunt off the bat of Olivia Haag allowed both runners to advance. Sarah Woody came in to pinch run for Lamb and then came in to score on a wild pitch. Abby Schriener hit a single to bring Smith in to score to give the Warriors a 9-2 run lead over Emmanuel.
Southern Wesleyan extended their lead once again in the third inning. With one out, Marissa Moreland singled and then advanced to second on an error by the second baseman. Reagan Fulcher ground out to the shortstop, but Moreland was able to advance to third on the play. Rebecca Lamb hit a single to bring Moreland in to score.
The Warriors scored once more in the top of the fourth inning. Abby Schreiner walked. With Haydin Williams pinch running for Schreiner, Maddie Crouch got down a single. An error in the outfield allowed Williams to come in to score on the play to give the Warriors an 11-2 run victory over the Lions.
What's Next
On March 17, the Warriors will hit the road to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will return home on March 20 to host the University of Mount Olive Trojans. Southern Wesleyan will host the Young Harris Mountain Lions on March 25.
