Young Harris, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped their first Conference Carolinas game of the season as they fell to the Young Harris Mountain Lions in a 14-7 final score.
The Warriors collected 10 hits against the Mountain Lions. Nolan Evatt led the team as he went 3 for 5 at the plate. Evatt was followed by Matthew McCaffrey with two hits in the game. Samuel Simonds picked up three of the seven RBIs in the form of a three run home run. McCaffrey was the other Warrior with a multi-base hit as he hit a triple. The Warriors walked four times and McCaffrey had the lone stolen base.
Gavin Chandler started the game on the mound for Southern Wesleyan. Chandler pitched four innings while striking out two batters. Benjamin Applebee, Will Koehler and Ash Faulk all came in to pitch in relief. Koehler picked up the other strikeout of the game for the Warriors.

How It Happened
Young Harris was first on the board as they brought two runs in to score in the bottom of the second inning. The Mountain Lions would not relent as they brought more runs in to score in the fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 10-0.
Southern Wesleyan answered in the sixth inning. Matthew McCaffrey led off the inning by hitting a triple into right field. With one out and McCaffrey ninety feet from home, Tristan Tillman hit the ball into center field for a single to bring McCaffrey in to score.
A two-run home run off the bat of Smith allowed the Mountain Lions to extend their lead to 12-1.
The Warriors challenged back in the top of the seventh inning. Perry Dyer led off the inning by reaching on a walk. Dyer advanced to second as Ryan Postnieks hit a single into left field. With two runners on and one out, Matthew McCaffrey sent the ball into center field for a single that brought Dyer in to score. Luke Taylor came in to pinch hit for Ethan Jarvis and hit a sacrifice fly into right field to bring Postnieks in to score. McCaffrey then stole second base and Tristan Tillman walked to bring Nolan Evatt up to bat. Evatt hit a single into left field to bring McCaffrey in to score the Warriors fourth run of the game. Samuel Simonds came in to pinch hit and drilled the ball deep over the fence for a three run blast to put the Warriors behind the Mountain Lions 12-7.
Young Harris brought more runs in to score in the seventh and eighth innings to win the game in a 14-7 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the series against the Young Harris Mountain Lions on February 14 in a double header beginning at 1pm. They will then travel to Milledgeville, GA to take on the Georgia College Bobcats on February 18. The Warriors will welcome the King Tornado on February 20-21.
