How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as just forty seconds into the game, Michael Boyle crossed the ball over to Oscar Umana.  Umana headed the ball into the back of the net to claim his first goal of the season.  The Warriors were not done as they went on the attack just a couple minutes later.  Sebastian Zumbado sent the ball in from the corner to Leonardo Flores.  Flores quickly tapped it over to Boyle who got the ball into the top corner of the net to put the Warriors on top 2-0 just three minutes into the game.  Southern Wesleyan continued to put pressure on the Flying Fleet defense as Mason Councill and John Gonzalez put up back-to-back shots, but each time Luca Barwalde was able to control the attacks to prevent the Warriors from extending on their lead.  The Flying Fleet looked to fight, but Kaden Manigualt's shot was blocked by Lucas Di Marco and Oscar Umana to prevent Erskine from cutting into the Warriors lead.

Southern Wesleyan picked up from where they left off in the second half.  Lucas Chisholm sent the ball deep into the box on a throw in.  A quick flick by Oscar Umana found Aron Bjarki Kristjansson who put it into the net to extend the Warriors lead to 3-0.  The Warriors pressed on as Jacob Zuniga looked to add to the Warriors lead, but Luca Barwalde defended the goal from his attack.  Michael Boyle went on the attack once again, but Barwalde dove to the side to prevent Boyle's shot from finding the back of the net.  A foul in the box allowed Connor Blake to go to the penalty mark and score the lone goal of the game for Erskine.  The Flying Fleet pushed on as Dane Weaver put up a shot, but Jonah Keoughan knocked the ball away.  Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Mason Councill, Josiah Pitts and Kistjansson put up several more shots.  However, the Flying Fleet thwarted the Warriors hopes of extending on their lead.  Southern Wesleyan walked away with a 3-1 goal victory over Erskine.
