Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Young Harris Mountain Lions in a 3-2 reverse sweep on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors totaled 58 kills in their victory over the Mountain Lions. Micheala Andress led the team with 15 kills while both Sarah Mitchell and Kaylon Chapman had 10 kills apiece. Of the 55 assists, Katie Fulton picked up 29 and Amiyah Spann had 21. The Warriors served up four aces with Mitchell having two. Both Fulton and Andress also had one ace.
Defensively, the Warriors recorded 71 digs with both libero Calie Covey and Micheala Andress having 22 digs each. Southern Wesleyan blocked 11 attacks by Young Harris. Sarah Mitchell had four blocks while Briley Wolff followed with three blocks.

How It Happened
Set One
Young Harris took the first three points of the match off the hands of Abby Schirm and Alexa Berry. A kill by Kaylon Chapman allowed the Warriors to come to within two points of the Mountain Lions. Amiyah Spann set the ball up to Ainsley Stovall. Stovall got the ball past Young Harris for a kill. Another kill by Stovall allowed the Warriors to take their first lead of the set. However, the Mountain Lions would not relent as Mary Wilson got in a couple of kills to put them back on top. The Warriors continued to challenge as Kaylon Chapman got in a kill and then Stovall blocked an attack by the Mountain Lions. Young Harris and Southern Wesleyan challenged each other to a 23-23 point tie. The Mountain Lions would take the first set in a 25-23 final.
Set Two
Once again, Young Harris charged out of the gate as an ace by Lexie Martin and kills by Lauren DeSilets and Abby Schirm gave them a 7-0 point lead. Sarah Mitchell and Kaylon Chapman got in a couple of kills, and then Michaela Andress got in an ace to put the Warriors within four points of the Mountain Lions. A block by Briley Wolff allowed the Warriors to come to 9-6 points behind Young Harris. However, kills by Mary Margaret Wilson and Linsey Burke extended the Mountain Lions' lead. Despite a kill by Ainsley Stovall, Young Harris claimed the second set in a 25-21 final.
Set Three
Briley Wolff kicked off the third set with a kill off a set by Katie Fulton. However, an ace by Lexie Martin put Young Harris on top once again, but a couple of attack errors by the Mountain Lions allowed Southern Wesleyan to regain the advantage. Micheala Andress and Sarah Mitchell laid down some kills to give the Warriors a 9-7 point lead. Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure as Mitchell blocked an attack by Kathryn Urbanek. Young Harris countered with a kill by Mary Margaret Wilson, but another kill off the hands of Mitchell extended the Warriors lead to five. The Mountain Lions went on a four point run, but they would not prevail as kills by Briley Wolff and Ainsley Stovall allowed the Warriors to take a 25-22 point victory in the third set.
Set Four
In the fourth set, Abby Schirm got in the first point to give the Mountain Lions the lead. Southern Wesleyan pressed on as Michaela Andress and Ainsley Stovall laid down a couple kills. The Warriors challenged as they went on a five point run to extend their lead to five. Hannah Depp and Lauren DeSilets put down a couple kills for the Mountain Lions. Katie Fulton set the ball up to Briley Wolff who got in a kill. An ace by Linsey Burke kept Young Harris within three. Young Harris tied the set up at eighteen off an ace by Lyza Thigpen. However, the tie was short lived as Katie Fulton served up an ace and then Michaela Andress laid down a couple kills. A kill by Ainsley Stovall allowed the Warriors to take the fourth set in a 25-21 final.
Set Five
Young Harris took the first couple points in the final set, but the Warriors answered with kills by Kaylon Chapman and Sarah Mitchell to tie the set up at three. The Warriors pushed on as Ainsley Stovall got in a kill. The Mountain Lions had a couple attack errors to allow Southern Wesleyan to extend on their lead. Lauren DeSilets got in a couple kills, but then Kaylon Chapman, Michaela Andress and Briley Wolff blocked another attack by DeSilets to extend the Warriors lead. The Warriors would not relent as a kill by Briley Wolff allowed Southern Wesleyan to claim a 15-9 point victory.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home September 27 as they host the Chowan Hawks at noon. They will then travel to Tigerville, SC on October 3 to take on the North Greenville Trailblazers before traveling up to Belmont, NC on October 4 to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. The Warriors will remain on the road on October 8 to take on the Converse Valkyries.
