How It Happened
Game One
Barton went on the attack early as a two run home run by Massey gave the Bulldogs the early advantage.
They continued their attacks in the bottom of the second inning as a double by Massey allowed two more runs to come in to score.
Southern Wesleyan answered in the top of the third inning. Talissa Cannady led off with a single to left field and then advanced to second as Josie Shoemaker walked. A sacrifice bunt by Amberly Way allowed both Cannady and Shoemaker to advance a base. Avery Mercer was then hit by a pitch to load up the bases and bring Rebecca Lamb up to bat. Lamb sent the ball over the left field wall for a grand slam that put the Warriors behind the Bulldogs 5-4.
However, the Bulldogs were not done as they brought several more runs in to score in the fourth and fifth innings.
Avery Mercer hit a solo home run in the seventh inning, but the Warriors could not pass the Bulldogs as they won game one in a 9-5 final score.
Game Two
