Duncan, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in a heart breaker to the Francis Marion Patriots on Saturday afternoon in a 3-2 final.
The Warriors recorded seven hits in the loss to the Patriots. Avery Mercer led the team by going 2-for-4 at the plate. Amberly Way homered, and both Maddie Crouch and Rebecca Lamb had doubles. Crouch and Way each had RBIs in the game. Chloe Smith was the lone Warrior to walk, and Southern Wesleyan was hit by three pitches. Chloe Smith pitched a complete game for the Warriors and struck out one batter.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the game against Francis Marion as in the top of the second inning with two outs, Madison Truett was hit by a pitch. Maddie Crouch stepped up to the plate and sent the ball to deep left field for a double that allowed Truett to come in to score to give the Warriors the lead.
The Warriors continued to push ahead as Amberly Way drilled the third pitch she saw deep over the left field fence for her first home run of the Conference Carolinas tournament.
Francis Marion fought back as they brought three runs in to score in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim the victory in a 3-2.
