Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Augusta Jaguars in both games of the doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. They dropped game one 3-2 before falling in game two in another 3-2 final score.
The Warriors picked up 10 hits in the first game of the afternoon with Rebecca Lamb leading the team with two hits including a double. Olivia Haag had the other double of the game. Both Lamb and Avery Mercer had RBIs in the game. Southern Wesleyan walked two times and Abby Schreiner stole a base. Olivia Haag started the game in the circle and pitched three innings while striking out one batter. Emily Collins closed the game out and struck out two batters while pitching four innings.
Southern Wesleyan totaled seven hits in game two of the day. Avery Mercer led the team with two hits including a double. Megan Ware picked up the other extra base hit as she also doubled. The Warriors walked seven times and Talissa Cannady stole a base. Bailey Throckmorton started the game in the circle and struck out one batter. Chloe Smith struck out three batters during her six innings pitched.

How It Happened
Game One
Augusta plated one run in the top of the second inning as a single by Tener allowed Gibson to come in to score. The Jaguars continued to push ahead as they brought another run in to score in the top of the third inning.
Southern Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs, Madison Truett singled to left field and then advanced to second as Amberly Way hit a single to center field. With two on, Avery Mercer came up to the plate and hit a single up the middle to allow Truett to come in to score and cut the Jaguars lead in half.
Augusta would not relent as a sacrifice fly out by Baker brought Johnson in to score the Jaguars third run of the game.
The Warriors would not go down easily as they attacked the plate again in the seventh inning. Amberly Way led off by taking first base on a six pitch walk. With Camille Lui pinch running for Way, Avery Mercer was hit by a pitch. Rebecca Lamb came up and drilled the ball to deep right field for a single that allowed Lui to come in to score. However, the Warriors could not pass the Jaguars as they won the game in a 3-2 final.
Game Two
Augusta maintained the intensity in the second game of the day as a triple by Howard and a home run off the bat of Roberts brought three runs in to score in the first inning.
The Warriors began to chip away at the Jaguars lead in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Madison Truett hit a single through the left side and then advanced to second as Amberly Way walked. Avery Mercer came up to the plate and hit a single through the left side of the infield to load up the bases for Rebecca Lamb. Lamb saw six pitches before drawing a walk to bring in the Warriors' first run of the game as Truett crossed home plate.
Southern Wesleyan struck again in the bottom of the second inning. Talissa Cannady led off the inning with a walk. With one out and Cannady on first, Megan Ware hit a double to deep left field to bring Cannady in to score.
Despite loading up the bases a couple more times, the Warriors fell to the Jaguars in a 3-2 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host the North Greenville Trailblazers on March 28. They will remain at home on March 29 as they host the King Tornado. On April 1, the Warriors will welcome the Shorter Hawks to Central, SC for a doubleheader beginning at 2pm.
