How It Happened
The Trojans went on the offensive early in the match as a free position goal by Logan Hibbard allowed them to take a 1-0 goal advantage. They continued to push ahead with goals by Katie Broom and Kayanna Bowden. Mount Olive would not back down as they sent the ball to the cage several more times, but Hannon Graybeal and Ava Lombardi saved the attacks. The Trojans attacked again as Morghan Pollock and Rileigh White each scored. With four minutes left in the quarter, another goal by Pollock allowed the game to go into a running clock scenario.
Mack Moreau won the first draw of the second quarter for the Warriors, but the Trojans regained control of the ball seconds later. Katie Broom collected the ball off a pass from Rileigh White to score the thirteenth goal of the game for the Trojans. The Warriors continued to challenge Mount Olive as the defense thwarted a couple attacks on the cage. However, the Trojans would not relent with several more goals to lead 20-0 at the half.
After controlling the ball at the beginning of the third quarter, Fianna Steves forced Ava Mullen to turn the ball over. Steves collected the ball and took it down the field. She was able to get the ball over to Rinna Beth Brooker who sent a rocket toward the net, but Ruby Burandt saved the shot from finding the net. Mount Olive answered with a goal by Ava Mullen. Mack Moreau sent the ball toward the cage, but her shot flew wide to keep the Warriors from cutting into the Trojans lead.
Mount Olive continued their attacks as Reese Weddle and Logan Hibbard each scored. They maintained the pressure as they sent a couple more balls into the cage to win the game in a 28-0 final score.
