Belmont, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the final game of the series to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Monday evening in a 5-1 final score.
The Warriors had three hits in the final game of the series. Tristan Tillman led the team with two hits including a double. The other hit came off the bat of Griffin Pickhardt. Tillman had the lone RBI of the game. Southern Wesleyan walked three times and Marty Grisso stole a base.
Jaylen Morgan started the game on the mound for the Warriors and pitched 3.1 innings while striking out four batters. Adrian Abad, Josiah Sizemore, Bryce Metts and Logan Brazell all came in to pitch in relief. Metts struck out four batters and Brazell struck out three.

How It Happened
Belmont Abbey went on the attack early on in the game as a double down the let field line by Whitaker allowed Tucker to come in to score to give the Crusaders the advantage. They went on to bring another run in to score in the bottom of the second inning off a double by Boyles that allowed Burr to score.
Southern Wesleyan cut Belmont Abbey's lead in half in the top of the third inning. Griffin Pickhardt led off the inning by reaching first on a walk and then advanced to second when Ryan Postnieks was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice bunt by Jason Culley allowed both runners to advance. With one out and two on, Tristan Tillman hit a sacrifice fly out to right field to allow Pickhardt to come in to score.
Another double by Boyles allowed the Crusaders to regain their two run advantage. They went on to bring another run in to score to take a 4-1 run lead.
Belmont Abbey pushed on with another run in the bottom of the seventh to win the game in a 5-1 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will take on the Mars Hill Lions in Central, SC on February 18 at 5pm. They will resume Conference Carolinas action on February 21-22 as they welcome the University of Mount Olive Trojans to Dr. C Keith Connor Field. The Warriors will host the Anderson Trojans on February 25.
