Game Vitals:

Final: Southern Wesleyan University 68, Young Harris College 78

Records: Southern Wesleyan University (8-16, 4-12), Young Harris College (16-7, 11-4)

How it Happened:

The first five on the floor for Southern Wesleyan against Young Harris were Che Smith, Eric Hackett, Reco Hallmon, Jamarras McCray, and Aaron Tims. McCray and Tims score on the first two possessions of the game, both assisted by Hackett. The Mountain Lions then held the Warriors the next 4:41 without a point and took a 10-5 lead until Bell ended the drought with points immediately after he subbed in. Along with Bell, Christopher Osobaye and Bobby Taylor were key figures for SWU in the first half. In particular, Osobaye was effective in using his size to work in the paint to finish or draw a whistle. After the lead was just two, Young Harris scored on their final two possessions of the half to take a 40-34 lead into the locker room.

SWU opened the second half by going 1:57 with a score until Bell connected from behind the arc. Tims scored a couple of possessions later, then Young Harris went on a 14-2 run as Southern Wesleyan went another 7:25 without a field goal. During that stretch, the only Warrior points came from Ceejay Jordan at the free-throw line and the Mountain Lion lead grew to as big as 15. A mid-range jump shot from Marcus Long and more charity-stripe score from Jordan eventually cut the lead back down to single digits with just over 8:00 to play. The lead shrunk to as little as four in the second half, but the Warriors couldn't get consistent stops down the stretch, leading to their fourth consecutive loss in conference play.

What's Next:

The Warriors' next two contests will be at Tysinger Gymnasium, hosting UNC Pembroke on Saturday, February 15th, and Erskine on Wednesday, February 19th.
