How It Happened

Kennesaw State came out of the gate as they went on an eight point run before a jump shot by Jaquay Randolph put the Warriors on the board.  Braedan Lue knocked down a three pointer to allow the Owls to extend their lead to nine.  The Owls fouled Valdy Zephir while making a shot to send him to the charity stripe.  Zephir hit both his baskets from the free throw line.  Kennesaw State continued to press as RJ Johnson put up a couple of shots.  Southern Wesleyan countered as Will Little put up a mid-range shot.  The Owls pressed on as they extended their lead to sixteen on a tip-in layup by Darius Washington III.  Malachi Cooper and Valdy Zephir put up back-to-back baskets.  Jaquay Randolph collected a rebound and the Warriors quickly transitioned the ball down the court to Zephir who laid the ball up into the basket.    Zephir pressed on as he hit a three pointer, but the Owls answered with a three pointer by Simeon Cottle.  Kennesaw State pushed on as Trey Simpson tipped the ball into the basket.  Will Little got the ball into the basket, but the Owls continued their run as they took a 37-point lead over the Warriors off a three pointer by Frankquon Sherman.  Jaquay Randolph laid the ball up into the basket in the final minute of the game, but the Owls led 65-22 going into the locker room.

The Owls continued the pressure early in the second half as Braedan Lue laid the ball up into the basket.  Will Little collected a pass from Josh Parker and drove to the basket to make the layup.  The Warriors pressed on as Jamarras McCray passed the ball out to Valdy Zephir.  Zaphir knocked down a three pointer, but the Owls answered with a three pointer by Simeon Cottle.  McCray picked up a loose ball and put it up into the basket from in the paint, being fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket.  With just over fourteen minutes left on the clock, Will Little collected the ball and hit a step-back three pointer.  Bobby Taylor followed with a three pointer of his own to put the Warriors down 80-37 to the Owls.  Malachi Cooper was able to get the ball into the basket, but Kennesaw State pressed on as Trey Simpson dunked the ball into the basket.  Kenyon Addie and Ashton Williams hit back-to-back three pointers.  The Warriors went on a five-point run spear headed by a layup by Nathanael Lewis.  However, Lue knocked down a three pointer with just over four minutes on the clock to keep the Owls' lead at fifty-four.  Jayden Guillaume laid the ball up into the basket.  Ashton Williams drove to the basket and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket.  Kennesaw State went on to win the game in a 121-66 final score.
