Final: Southern Wesleyan University 95, University of Mount Olive 107

Records: Southern Wesleyan University (4-11, 2-7), University of Mount Olive (7-11, 5-11)

How It Happened:

Southern Wesleyan went with a three-point guard lineup to start against the Trojans, opening with Che Smith, RJ Bell, Bobby Taylor, Christopher Osobaye, and Aaron Tims on the floor. Smith scored each of the game's first two field goals as SWU opened up to a 4-0 lead. They then went over 3:00 without a score which was followed by a 12-3 run which started with a free throw from Tims and was caped by back-to-back scores from Ceejay Jordan. The Warriors hung close with Tims scoring the team's next six points as Mount Olive began to find a rhythm, but the Trojans started to pull away with a 13-2 run midway through the half. Southern Wesleyan got the lead back into single digits with a mid-range jumper from Smith but Mount Olive controlled much of the final minutes and took a 17-point lead into the locker room.

Tims scored the first six points of the half for SWU before a Jamarras McCray dunk brought the Trojan lead back to within 20 at the 16:30 mark. That was part of a 7-0 run capped by a Taylor three-point play a couple of possessions later. The two teams traded buckets over the next several minutes, but Tims continued to dominate the paint for the Warriors. However, Mount Olive plays at such a fast pace that it turned nearly every Southern Wesleyan missed shot and turnover into a score as they racked up 39 fast break points. They also outscored SWU in bench points, putting up 45 to the Warriors' 28. Jordan, a North Carolina native, led the team's reserve unit with 8 points. Southern Wesleyan went on a quick 6-0 run with scoring from Bell and Smith to put late game pressure on Mount Olive and even got the margin down to single digits with 2:35 left, but it wasn't even to complete the comeback as the home team came out victorious.
