Duncan, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel Lions in the Conference Carolinas championship tournament in a 10-4 final score to wrap up their 2024 season.
The Warriors picked up five hits in the game with sophomore Talissa Cannady leading the team with two hits and two RBIs. Cannady's two RBIs came off a two-run shot to left field. Riley Wilson was the other Warrior to pick up extra bases as she doubled. Southern Wesleyan walked four times and both Addi Johnson and Taylor Palfrey stole bases. Olivia Haag pitched the whole game for the Warriors and struck out three batters.

How It Happened
The Lions attacked the plate early as a series of hits allowed them to take an early 5-0 run advantage over the Warriors in the bottom of the first inning.
Southern Wesleyan put their first run of the game on the board in the top of the second inning. Amberly Way led off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second when Talissa Cannady hit a single to left field. Riley Wilson laid down a sacrifice bunt to put both runners in scoring position. A ground out by Taylor Palfrey allowed Way to come in to score and put Cannady on third base. Madison Truett followed with a single up the middle to bring Cannady in to score to put the Warriors behind the Lions 5-2.
Southern Wesleyan continued to fight back in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Amberly Way battled through her at bat to earn a walk after thirteen pitches. A passed ball allowed her to advance to second. Talissa Cannady drilled the ball over the left field fence for a two-run home run to put the Warriors within one run of the Lions.
Emmanuel extended their to 8-4 off a double by Feigen and single by Harrison. The Lions attacked again in the bottom of the sixth as they brought two more runs in to score to take a 10-4 run victory over the Warriors.
