How It Happened:
Coach Stites and crew returned to the same lineup that opened their win over Young Harris a week ago:
Jonathan Taylor,
Eric Hackett,
Griffin Effenberger,
Reco Hallmon, and
Aaron Tims. SWU grabbed their first lead of the game inside of the 18:00 mark as Hallmon assisted Tims for a perimeter shot. Aaron had a very good game for the Warriors, prior to getting in some foul trouble. He scored 7 points in the first 10 minutes of the and had a layup to give him 9 and SWU up 11 with just over 8 minutes left in the opening period. However, the Flying Fleet went on a massive run to end the half, taking a 1-point lead into the break.
Erskine continued to flip the game on it's head early in the second half with two free throws from Jaylen Prioleau to put them up 43-33. Hackett knocked down a couple of free throws in the first few minutes of the half, but Erskine's ability to score in the paint with
Aaron Tims in foul trouble was a big reason why Erskine continued to build a lead. Another key factor was bench points, a stat that Southern Wesleyan usually controls. However, Erskine outscored them 36-17 category in tonight's contest. Hallmon converted on a fast break layup to cut the lead to 13, but the Warriors were unable to make it any closer on the night.
What's Next:
The Warriors only have two games remaining in the Regular Season: Mount Olive on Saturday, February 24th, and Emmanuel on Wednesday, February 28th, both at Tysinger Gymnasium.
